KUALA LUMPUR: The Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT)
will be closed by May 9, 2014 to facilitate the opening of the Kuala
Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2), said Deputy Transport Minister
Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi.
He said KLIA2 was on track to be opened by May 2 with four airlines starting operations at the new airport.
"These airlines include Philippine-based Cebu Pacific, Indonesia-based Tigerair Mandala, Singapore-based Tiger Air and local hybrid airline, Malindo Air," he told reporters at Airport Cities World Conference and Exhibition 2014 here Tuesday.
He said the first flight would be at 12.30am by the low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific. Aziz also said passenger targeted growth into Malaysia this year was 9.7 per cent and he was confident that it would be achievable despite the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 incident.
The two-day event is the global platform that provides thought leadership, best practice, innovation and high-level debate and discussion around the creation and development of airport cities.
