KOTA BHARU: The new Malindo Air’s direct flight from Surat Thani International Airport, Thailand, to Kota Bharu is expected to bring in more tourists to Kelantan.
State Culture, Tourism and Heritage Committee chairman Datuk Md Anizam Ab Rahman said the direct flight would also give the opportunity to the state government to promote the state to foreign tourists.
“By using the flight, foreign tourists departing from Thailand will be offered a holiday package in Kelantan.
“This will be our chance to promote the state and increase the number of tourist arrivals to Kelantan to 5.23 million a year,” he told reporters after welcoming the arrival of over 50 passengers on Malindo Air’s first direct flight from Surat Thani Airport at the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport (LTSIP) here today.
Also present LTSIP manager Abdul Halim Othman.
The flight is available twice weekly, namely on Monday and Tuesday.
Elaborating, Md Anizam said for the promotion, the state government would provide electrical trishaws that would take the tourists around the capital to get know the state better.
“They will be taken for a ride around Kota Bharu and learn a thing or two about our culture and heritage, and enjoy the natural beauty of the state and its traditional dishes,” he added.
