KUALA LUMPUR: Dubai-based Emirates today unveiled new routes to 15 cities within Malaysia as part of a codeshare agreement with Malaysia Airlines Bhd that was entered into in December last year.
Emirates said the destinations are Langkawi, Penang, Alor Setar, Kota Bharu, Kuantan, Kuala Terengganu, Johor Bahru, Kuching, Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau, and Labuan.
"The codeshare with Malaysia Airlines will provide more seamless travel options for our passengers to visit 15 cities in Malaysia and elsewhere in the region with a convenient connection in Kuala Lumpur," said Emirates executive vice president and chief commercial officer Thierry Antinori in a statement today.
"Reciprocally, travellers from the region will also benefit from an expanded network including 90 destinations spanning Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas. At the same time, they will be able to earn and redeem miles when flying on any Emirates and Malaysia Airlines-operated flights," he added.
To mark this occasion, Emirates is offering special fares for travellers in Malaysia from now until April 8 for travel until Dec 31.
From Penang, passengers can enjoy economy class fares starting from RM2,839 to Paris, RM2,989 to London, and RM3,499 to Dubai, while from Miri, Kuching or Sibu, economy class fares start from RM3,239 to Paris, RM3,389 to London and RM3,899 to Dubai.
