PETALING JAYA: AirAsia passengers have been advised to arrive three hours before departure and clear all travel formalities soonest possible when its starts operating at KLIA2 from May 9.

“The new airport covers an area much larger than the current one and it takes more time to get from one point to another.

Guests are advised to self-check-in online via web or mobile (phone) before arriving at the airport,” the airline said in a statement.

Both AirAsia and AirAsia X’s baggage drop counters at KLIA2 will open three hours before departure and close an hour before departure for all international and domestic flights.

The airline said this was to allow guests enough time to familiarise themselves with the new airport environment and be at the departure gates on time.

“AirAsia ground staff will be available to assist guests and ensure a smooth transition to the new airport.“The airline will also continue to enforce the ‘one cabin baggage policy’ to ensure smooth boarding and disembarkation at KLIA2,” it added.

Meanwhile, AirAsia and AirAsia X will still be flying from LCCT until May 8. However, several domestic and international AirAsia flights will be landing directly at KLIA2 on May 8.

“Guests can refer to airasia.com/klia2 for the full list of flights that will arrive at KLIA2 on May 8. “Affected guests will be informed via e-mail and text messages, so all guests are encouraged to keep their AirAsia member profiles updated,” said AirAsia.

On May 8, all AirAsia X flights will still depart from and arrive at LCCT. These include four early morning flights departing on May 9 to Perth (12.05am), Osaka (1am), Busan (1.15am) and Jeddah (2.35am).
