Xpress Air confident of response ror Pontianak - Johor Bahru route

PONTIANAK (Indonesia): Indonesian airline Xpress Air, is confident its newly launched Pontianak - Johor Bahru route will receive encouraging response within the first six months of operations.

Business Development Manager Fanny Andri Rifai said there were a number of key factors that can strengthen the flight launched on June 14, particularly the tourism sector of both countries.

"Johor has a number of attractions for Indonesians to partake of, including medical treatment at reasonable rates.

"The city also serves as a gateway for those planning to visit Singapore or other nearby places as Malacca and Kuala Lumpur," he added.

Fanny Andri told this to reporters from Johor who were part of a Xpress Air delegation, also comprising the Johor Tourism Department and agents of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Johor to Kota Pontianak, recently.

He said apart from tourism, the high demand for direct flights by Indonesians working and studying in Peninsular Malaysia or Singapore, was another factor for Xpress Air's optimism in introducing the flight.

"The absence of a direct flight from Pontianak-Singapore following the termination of flights from Johor Bahru to a number of Indonesian cities this year, will also contribute to demand on the newly launched route.

Fanny Andri said Xpress Air is offering three weekly flights with a RM240 one-way fare.
