PUTRAJAYA: Various allocations provided for under the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) will continue to preserve peace and harmony enjoyed by the country all these years said Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zahid Hamidi.
Zahid said initiatives under the RMK11 will further boost public safety and security through affirmative and appropriate measures to enforce the law strictly and without fear or favour.
"The Home Ministry will ensure the policies under 11MP remain on the right track to ensure public safety and security which will than help propel the development of the country," he said in a statement today.
Zahid said the 11MP must be viewed as a continuation of the legacy left behind by leaders for their successors to fulfill their vision and safeguard the Independence of the country.
He said in five years time, the country would reach a historic milestone - Vision 2020 - on the backdrop of rapid development and progress enjoyed by the country in its quest to become a developed nation.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAC) to be incorporated in July 2015 under the 11MP will provide for a more structured and systematic aviation industry, as the responsibilities of the independent regulatory body include economic regulation and consumer protection in the industry.
Placing the MAC under the Ministry will boost efficiency since the commission will undertake policy and planning functions to manage capacity and competition via licensing, route allocation and streamlining airports according to the hierarchy.
"I am confident the commission will overcome the challenges and help improve the country's aviation sector," he said in a statement after the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today.
The 11MP, covering the period 2016 to 2020, says the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) will continue to serve as the technical, safety and security authority.
In addition, the communication, navigation and surveillance as well as the air traffic management systems will be upgraded to improve efficiency of air navigation services under the 11MP.
